Orioles announce ALCS roster - Brian Matusz is in, Ubaldo Jimenez is out

Jimenez won't get the chance to pitch in the ALCS, which is probably not a terrible thing.

The Baltimore Orioles have announced their 25-man roster for the American League Championship Series against the Kansas City Royals, which begins tonight at Camden Yards (weather permitting).

There is but one change from the ALDS roster, as RHP Ubaldo Jimenez has been removed in favor of LHP Brian Matusz. Jimenez was only on the ALDS roster in case of emergency, with Matusz being left out as the Tigers' roster wasn't built for the opposing team to need a lefty specialist.

It's unlikely that the Orioles will use Matusz much in the series, with better lefty option Andrew Miller in the bullpen. Lefty pitcher T.J. McFarland was also left off the roster after spending most of the season with the team, and the lack of Quintin Berry for late-inning pinch-running duties seems to say that the Orioles aren't interested in beating the Royals at their own game.

Here is the complete 25-man roster:
